Those are available on intraday baskets only. Choose MIS above to place them, or go back and clear the Target & SL columns.

Target and stop-loss are available on intraday baskets only
- Nothing was sent to your broker. The screen stops before placing and asks you to make a choice.
- Per-leg target and stop-loss work on intraday baskets. The product type is chosen at the last step, not while you build.
- To keep the protection: change Product type to MIS in the same window, and place the basket as intraday.
- To carry the position past today: go back, clear the Target & SL columns, then place it as NRML.
- The count on the Target & SL button shows how many legs still carry protection, so you can see when the basket is clear.
- The screen never switches the product type for you. That would change the margin you need and hand the position to your broker's end-of-day square-off.
When this happens
- 1 At least one leg of the basket has a value in the Target, SL or Trail column, and the product type at Review & place is set to NRML (carry forward) instead of MIS (intraday).
You built an option basket, set a target or a stop-loss on one or more legs, and clicked Review & place. The window opens, but Place is greyed out and a message says the target and stop-loss are available on intraday baskets only.
Nothing has gone wrong, and nothing has been sent to your broker. The screen is asking you to make a choice.
Why this happens
Per-leg Target, SL and Trail work on intraday baskets.
The product type is not chosen while you build the basket. You choose it at Review & place, under Product type, and it starts on NRML, which carries the position past today. So it is easy to set a stop-loss on a leg, reach the last step, and find the two settings do not agree.
The two ways to fix it
Pick whichever one matches what you actually want to trade.
If you want the target and stop-loss: change Product type to MIS in the same window. The basket is then intraday, and Place becomes available. Remember that your broker squares off an intraday position before the close.
If you want to carry the position past today: go back to the basket, click Target & SL, and clear the values in those columns. The Target & SL button shows a count of how many legs still carry protection, so you can see when the basket is clear. Then place it as NRML.
Why the screen does not just switch it for you
Changing the product type is not a small change, so we do not make it on your behalf.
- It changes the margin your basket needs.
- It hands the position to your broker’s end-of-day square-off, so a position you meant to hold would be closed the same day.
Making that change because you typed a number in a different column would be a surprise, and an expensive one. So the screen stops, names both ways out, and lets you decide.
