Are commodity contracts supported?
Yes. AutoTrader Web supports almost all contracts on the Indian stock exchanges — stocks, futures and options, and all commodity contracts. Commodity contracts work everywhere in the platform: normal trading, PMS copy, master-child copy trading, and the API. Copy trading is not limited to any segment — master-child copies any order that appears in the master account's order book, including commodity orders. For stocks, the commonly traded series (EQ, BE, SM and ST) are supported; other rarely traded series — many of them interest rate contracts — are not.
Which contracts are supported
AutoTrader Web supports almost all contracts on the Indian stock exchanges:
- Stocks (cash segment) — the commonly traded series: EQ, BE, SM and ST.
- Futures and options — index and stock derivatives.
- Commodity contracts — all commodity futures and options are supported.
The only contracts not supported are rarely traded stock series outside the four listed above. Most of these are interest rate contracts, which almost nobody trades.
Commodities in copy trading
Both copy methods copy commodity orders like any other order:
- PMS copy — you place the commodity order once from the Trade screen and pick the accounts or groups to send it to.
- Master-child copy — the system copies any order that appears in the master account’s order book, whatever the segment. Commodity orders are copied like stock or F&O orders.
For master-child, check two settings if you trade commodities:
- Copy End Time — the default (15:40) matches the F&O market close. The commodity segment trades until late evening, so extend the end time. See Market timings.
- Segment filter — if your master account uses a segment filter, include the commodity segment (or leave the filter off).
One thing to check with your broker
Your broker trading account must have the commodity segment enabled at the broker. If it is not, the broker rejects commodity orders — see Segment not enabled for your account.
