IP address is already linked to another account

In short

Your broker is rejecting the IP because that same IP is already registered (whitelisted) for a different account in the broker's API dashboard. A broker lets each IP belong to only one account. You have two ways to fix it: either remove that IP from the other account in the broker dashboard and then add it here, or assign a different static IP to this account. To get a different IP in our system, first delete the current IP using the dustbin (delete) icon next to it, then click Auto-Assign IP again to get a new one, and register that new IP with your broker.

When this happens

  1. 1 The same IP is already whitelisted for a different account in your broker's API dashboard.
  2. 2 You tried to reuse one static IP across two broker accounts, which the broker does not allow.

What this means

This is a message from your broker, not from our system. Your broker lets each whitelisted IP address belong to only one account. The IP you are trying to add is already registered for a different account in the broker’s API dashboard, so the broker refuses to add it again.

How to fix it

You have two options. Pick whichever suits you.

Option 1: Free the IP on the other account

If you do not need that IP on the other account any more:

  1. Log in to your broker’s API or developer dashboard.
  2. Find the account that is already using this IP and remove the IP from it.
  3. Now add the IP for the account you want.

Option 2: Assign a different IP to this account

Get a fresh static IP from our system and use that instead. Note that simply clicking “Auto-Assign IP” again keeps the same IP — you must delete the current one first.

  1. In our system, go to Accounts → Trading Accounts and click the pencil (edit) icon next to the account.
  2. Click the dustbin (delete) icon next to the IP address shown to remove the current IP.
  3. Click “Auto-Assign IP” again. The system gives you a different static IP.
  4. Register this new IP in your broker’s API dashboard (in the IP whitelist field).
  5. Come back to our system, click Validate, and Save the account.

For the full IP setup steps, see the Static IP Setup guide. If your broker rejects the IP for a different reason, see Broker rejects your IP.
