Static IP for broker API trading: options and pricing

In short

Every broker needs a fixed (static) IP to allow API access — it is mandatory, not optional, and an account without one cannot place orders. Either take one from us or bring your own; both count, but you must have one. With Stocks Developer, a static IP is a small add-on, inclusive of all taxes. If your broker supports IPv6, you get a Premium static IPv6 — the fastest option — at ₹100 per month. If your broker is IPv4 only, you choose from three options: a Premium static IP we set up for you (a dedicated IP, faster and more reliable, ₹299 per month with a 3-month minimum to start), a Standard static IP from our pool (₹200 per month), or bring your own IP (BYOIP), which we never charge for — an IP you bring must be a static IP proxy from a proxy vendor, not a broadband static IP from an internet provider. Each account that uses a static IP is billed for its own IP — your static IP belongs to that one account. A Premium static IPv6 or a Standard static IPv4 is charged on that account's own recharge; a Premium static IPv4 is the one option charged separately, renewing every month from your wallet on its own, so keep a little balance there even after a recharge. Angel One is IPv4 only and the Standard pool option is not offered there, so for Angel One you pick Premium or bring your own.

In short

Every broker needs a fixed (static) IP to allow API trading — it is mandatory, not optional. With Stocks Developer, a static IP is a small add-on, inclusive of all taxes, just like the account licence. You open the Static IP option while editing your account and pick the choice that suits you — the options you see depend on your broker.

Angel One works a little differently. Angel One is IPv4 only, and the Standard pool option is not offered for it. For an Angel One account you either buy a Premium static IP we set up for you (you just whitelist it — ₹299 per month, 3-month minimum to start) or bring your own IPv4 static IP (BYOIP). See Static IP Setup for the steps, pricing and the wallet balance you need.

What a static IP costs

Which options you see depend on your broker.

If your broker supports IPv6 — one option:

OptionPriceNotes
Premium Static IPv6₹100 per monthOne IPv6 static IP — a primary and a backup address, with the backup included free (a spare address kept ready in case the primary has a problem). The fastest and most reliable option. The first month is charged when the IP is assigned.

If your broker is IPv4 only — three options:

OptionPriceNotes
Premium Static IPv4 (recommended)₹299 per monthA dedicated static IP we set up for you — faster and more reliable. 3-month minimum to start (₹897).
Standard Static IPv4 (from our pool)₹200 per monthA static IP from our pool. The first month is charged when the IP is assigned.
Bring your own IP (BYOIP)FreeWe never charge for an IP you bring.

Every price above is final and inclusive of all taxes — the number you see is the number you pay.

How the charge works

  • A pool IP’s first month is charged when it is assigned. For a Premium static IPv6 (₹100) or a Standard static IPv4 (₹200), your wallet needs at least the IP’s monthly price before you take the IP.
  • If you take the IP before saving the account, the charge lands when you save it. Until then the IP is only reserved for you, so keep the balance in your wallet until the account is saved — see We could not add your static IP to your new account.
  • A Premium static IPv4 starts with a 3-month payment. The first purchase of a Premium static IPv4 we set up for you is for a minimum of 3 months (₹897); after that it renews every month on its own, as long as your wallet has balance and that account’s licence is active.
  • It renews with your account recharge. After the first charge, a Premium static IPv6 or a Standard static IPv4 renews together with your account recharge, so there is no separate payment to remember.
  • A Premium static IPv4 is charged on its own. It is the one option that does not ride on your account recharge — it renews every month from your wallet by itself. So keep a little balance in the wallet even after a recharge.
  • Renewal needs balance in your wallet. If the wallet is short when a Premium static IPv4 comes up for renewal, we cannot renew it and we email you a few days before its paid-until date. Add funds before the release date and the same IP comes back on its own — see Static IP not renewed because your wallet balance was low.
  • Renewal needs an active account. A static IP renews only while that trading account’s licence is active. If the account expires, we stop renewing its static IP and email you, so an account you no longer use does not keep paying for an IP. Recharge the account to keep the same IP — see Static IP not renewed because the account expired.
  • Each account is billed for its own static IP. A static IP belongs to one account and is charged on that account’s own recharge.
  • You never pay past your account’s expiry date. A static IP is never paid for beyond the expiry of the account it belongs to. If less than a full month is left on the account when the IP renews, you are charged only for those days — the monthly price divided by 30, times the number of days. For example, with 12 days left, a ₹100 static IP costs ₹40. See Why your static IP charge was less than a full month.
  • A replaced IP does not cost extra. If an IP ever has to be replaced (for example, your broker rejects it), contact support — we replace it free of charge and the new IP continues on the time you already paid for, so you never pay twice.

Why a static IP matters

Indian brokers only allow API access from a fixed IP address that you register with them. A normal internet connection changes its IP often, so it does not work for this. You need a static IP that stays the same.

So a static IP is not a nice-to-have for API trading — it is required, for every broker. The only question is which option you pick and what you pay for it.

Can I skip it or stop paying for it?

No. There is no broker you can connect and trade on without a static IP, and it is not a one-off setup cost — it renews each month with that account’s recharge, for as long as you use the account. If the IP goes, that account can no longer place orders and you get an “IP not registered” style rejection from your broker.

A broker supporting IPv6 does not mean it works without a static IP — it only means your static IP will be an IPv6 address at ₹100 per month. Kotak Neo and Fyers both support IPv6 and both still need one.

The only free way to meet the requirement is to bring your own IP — that is still a static IP, just one you buy yourself from a proxy vendor rather than from us. If cost is the concern, the cheapest routes are a Premium static IPv6 at ₹100 per month where your broker supports it, or your own IP for free.

What it costs elsewhere vs. with us

Some other trading toolsUp to ₹500 per account per monthOften yes — you add proxy details yourself

Stocks Developer never names other companies. The point is simply that our static IP is a low, tax-inclusive price and is set up for you.

Bring your own IP (BYOIP)

If you prefer to use your own IP, you can — and we never charge for it:

  • Buy a dedicated static IP proxy directly from a proxy vendor (choose an India location and a fixed IP). You buy it yourself, so it is always available to you. It has to be a proxy — you enter a host, a port, a username and a password — so a static IP bought as an add-on on a broadband or leased-line internet connection cannot be used: see Can I use my internet provider’s static IP?
  • Add that IP in one place (Settings → My IPs, in the Proxy pool tab), then attach it to the account from the account’s card on the same My IPs page, or with the Static IP option while editing the account.
  • You renew it with your provider. Because you bought it yourself, we never charge for it and we do not track when it expires — see Does the expiry date apply to my own static IP?.

The Static IP Setup guide walks you through this — it lists sample static IP vendors, what kind of IP to buy, and the exact steps to add your own IP. If you are not sure which option fits you, reach out and the team will help you pick.

You do not have to configure anything

With a do-it-yourself setup you have to find a static IP, pay for it, and enter proxy details correctly. One mistake and your broker blocks the connection.

With Stocks Developer there is no proxy to set up. A static IP is set up for your account, and you simply register that IP in your broker’s dashboard. If you would rather use your own IP, you can do that instead.

See the Static IP Setup guide for the steps, or Broker rejects your IP if your broker is not accepting the IP yet.

Taking our static IP on a new account

Every new account gets the free 1-month trial, on every broker — and taking a static IP from us does not change that. The trial covers the account licence; the static IP is a separate charge:

  • A pool IP’s first month is charged when the IP is assigned, so your wallet needs at least ₹100 (Premium IPv6) or ₹200 (Standard IPv4) — even while the account is in its free trial month.
  • A Premium static IPv4 starts with a 3-month payment (₹897) at purchase.
  • After that the IP renews together with your account recharge.

Bringing your own IP: you also get the free 1-month trial, and there are no IP charges and no balance needed.
