Place a basket order or a multi-leg (option strategy) order
Yes. A basket order is just a group of orders sent together, and a multi-leg option strategy (like a straddle, strangle, or spread) is simply several orders, one per leg. Use the ready-made Excel Order Pad: enter each order or leg as a row, then place or copy them all into one or many accounts with a single click. You can also fire the whole basket at a set time.
Can I place a basket order in F&O?
Yes. A basket order is just a group of orders placed together. The ready-made Excel Order Pad lets you do this: enter each order as a row in the Orders sheet, then place them all into one or many accounts with a single click. You can also fire the whole basket at a set time.
Can I place a multi-leg option strategy order?
Yes. A multi-leg strategy (for example, a straddle, a strangle, or a spread) is simply several orders, one per leg. Enter each leg as a row in the orders sheet and place or copy them all together into one or many accounts in one click.
The legs are sent in the order you entered them in the sheet. Each one waits for your broker’s answer before the next is sent, so the sequence is kept.
How to do it
- Download the Order Pad from the Excel setup page and open it.
- Enter each order or leg as a row in the orders sheet.
- List the accounts you want in the accounts sheet (these must be pseudo accounts).
- Place the basket with a single click, or set a time on the Configuration sheet to fire it automatically.
You can make as many copies of the Excel tool as you like. Many users keep one copy per strategy. These are normal Excel files, so you can automate filling in the order data using Excel formulae or macros.
