Order is not open

In short

You get this error when you try to modify or cancel an order that is no longer in OPEN or TRIGGER_PENDING status. The order status changed just before your action, so the action is no longer valid. Refresh the order to see its latest status, then decide what to do.

When this happens

  1. 1 Trying to modify an order that is not open.
  2. 2 Trying to cancel an order that is not open or is already cancelled.
  3. 3 Trying to modify or cancel an order that is yet to be confirmed by the exchange.

What this error means

Only an order in OPEN or TRIGGER_PENDING status can be modified or cancelled. If the status has just changed (for example, the order was filled, rejected, or already cancelled), your modify or cancel request is no longer valid and you see this error.

Solution

Refresh the order to check its latest status, then take the right action based on that status.

A closed order cannot be modified, so there is nothing to do if the order has already filled, been rejected, or been cancelled.
