Request timed out error from trading platform
A request timed out error means one of your broker's internal sub-systems did not respond in time. It comes from the broker's server, not from AutoTrader Web, so it is not something we can fix. In most cases you can simply retry the failed operation.
When this happens
- 1 Heavy load on the broker's system.
- 2 Technical issues on the broker's system.
What this error means
A broker’s trading system is made up of many sub-systems. When you send a request, it passes through these sub-systems before the broker generates a response and returns it to you or to AutoTrader Web.
If any one of these sub-systems fails to process the request in time, the requesting system reports a timeout. The error is raised on the broker side.
What to do
There is no fix on our side. The issue lies inside the broker’s trading platform, which we do not own and cannot access. The AutoTrader team shows you the exact error message and where it came from, but we cannot change anything on the broker’s server.
In most cases, the right step is simple:
Retry your failed operation.
If the timeouts keep happening, the broker’s technology team needs to look into it. Reaching them can be hard, and their front-desk support may not help much because AutoTrader Web is an external system.
