Static IP not renewed because your wallet balance was low

In short

A Premium static IPv4 — the dedicated IP we set up for you — renews every month from your wallet at ₹299. If your wallet does not have enough balance on the renewal day, we cannot renew it, and we email you a few days before the paid-until date so you have time to act. The IP keeps working until its paid-until date. About 2 days after that date it stops working, and we email you again. About 5 days after that date it is released for good. We try the renewal again every day, so at any time before the release date you can simply add funds to your wallet and the same IP comes back on its own — you do not have to whitelist anything again with your broker. If it is released, you have to buy a new static IP and whitelist the new address with your broker, so adding funds before that date is the faster and cheaper route. This is separate from your account recharge: a Premium static IPv4 is charged on its own, so your account licence can be active and the IP renewal can still fail if the wallet is empty.

When this happens

  1. 1 Your wallet balance was less than the static IP's monthly charge on the day it came up for renewal.
  2. 2 The account licence was recharged, but the wallet was left empty afterwards — a Premium static IPv4 is charged separately from the account.
  3. 3 Auto-recharge topped up the account licence and used up the balance, leaving nothing for the static IP renewal.

What this means

A Premium static IPv4 — the dedicated IP we set up for you — renews every month from your wallet at ₹299.

If your wallet does not have enough balance on the day it comes up for renewal, we cannot renew it. We send you an email a few days before the paid-until date, so you have time to add funds while the IP is still working.

This is about a static IP you took from us. An IP you brought yourself is never charged and never renewed by us — you renew it with your own provider. See Does the expiry date apply to my own static IP?.

This is separate from your account recharge

A Premium static IPv4 is charged on its own, not with your account recharge. So your account licence can be perfectly active and the IP renewal can still fail because the wallet is empty.

This surprises people who recharge the account and then let the wallet run down. Keep a little balance in the wallet even after a recharge, so the IP renewal has something to draw on.

Other static IP options work differently: a Premium static IPv6 (₹100) and a Standard static IPv4 from our pool (₹200) renew together with the account recharge. This article is only about the Premium static IPv4.

What happens, and when

Counting from your static IP’s paid-until date:

WhenWhat happens
About 3 days beforeWe try to renew, the wallet is short, and we email you. The IP keeps working.
Up to the paid-until dateThe IP keeps working normally.
About 2 days afterThe IP stops working. Orders on that account can no longer go out through it. We email you again.
About 5 days afterThe IP is released for good.

The exact dates for your IP are in the email we send you. You can also see the IP and its expiry date any time under Settings → My IPs.

How to get your static IP back

Add funds to your wallet. That is all.

  1. Open the User menu in the top-right corner (click your name) and click Account.
  2. Add funds on the Billing tab.

We try the renewal again every day, so as long as you do this before the release date, the same IP comes back on its own. You keep the same address, so there is nothing to whitelist again with your broker.

You do not have to contact us and you do not have to click anything else.

If the IP is already released

Once a static IP is released, it is gone and cannot be brought back. You would need to:

  1. Buy a new Premium static IPv4 (a 3-month minimum applies to a new purchase — ₹897).
  2. Whitelist the new address with your broker before you can trade on that account again.

That is slower and costs more than simply adding funds in time. If you are close to the release date, add funds first and sort everything else out later.

How to avoid this

  • Keep a small buffer in your wallet. Enough for one month of every static IP you hold is plenty.
  • Turn on auto-recharge so the account licence renews on its own — but remember it uses wallet balance, so keep enough for both the licence and the IP. Go to Settings → General and find Auto Recharge Accounts in the Billing section.
  • Read the email when it arrives. It comes days before anything stops working, and it has the exact dates for your IP.
