Search tradable instruments by broker independent symbol and see how each maps to a broker.

Broker independentSearch as you type
In short

The Instruments screen lets you search for trading instruments using AutoTrader's broker independent symbols. Type at least 2 letters of a symbol in the big search box and the results appear as you type — there is no Search button. Use the filter buttons below the search box to pick the exchange and the instrument type (stock, future or option). The option type and strike price filters appear only when you pick Option. Click any result to see how that instrument maps to a specific broker.

AutoTrader uses a concept called Broker Independent Instruments. Use this screen to search for the trading instruments available for trading.

AutoTrader creates broker independent symbols. It identifies an instrument uniquely by its Exchange and Symbol.

How to search for an instrument

  1. Type a Symbol (at least 2 letters) in the search box at the top. Results appear as you type — there is no Search button.
  2. Pick the Exchange and the Instrument type (stock, future or option) with the filter buttons below the search box. The Segment updates on its own to match the exchange; you can still change it.
  3. If you pick Option, two more filters appear: Option (call or put) and Strike price. They stay hidden for stocks and futures.
  4. The result count is shown above the table. The table shows each instrument’s name, expiry, lot size, tick size and circuit band. The expiry, option and strike columns appear only when they apply to the instrument type you picked.
  5. Click a symbol in the results to view its broker specific instrument details.
