GTT (Good Till Triggered)
Rest an order until your trigger price is hit, then it goes to the market.
A GTT (Good Till Triggered) order rests in the background until your trigger price is reached, then it is sent to the market. It is useful for setting an entry, target or stop-loss without watching the screen all day. In AutoTrader Web you can place, modify and cancel GTT orders from the Portfolio screen, on brokers that support GTT.
What is a GTT order?
GTT stands for Good Till Triggered. A regular order is valid only for the trading day. A GTT order, by contrast, waits until the market reaches your trigger price. When the trigger is hit, your order is placed.
This lets you set up an entry, target or stop-loss in advance and step away, instead of watching prices all day.
GTT works only on brokers that offer a GTT feature. The number of GTT orders allowed and how long they stay valid are set by your broker.
Does your broker support GTT?
GTT works only on brokers that offer a GTT feature on their own platform. The easiest way to find out if your broker is supported is to test it:
- Place a small sample GTT order from the Portfolio screen (see Place a GTT order below).
- If it saves and rests without an error, your broker supports GTT.
- If you get an error, or you do not see the GTT option for that account, your broker may not support it yet.
If GTT is not available for your broker, please contact support or suggest it as a feature request, and we will look into adding it.
Place a GTT order
- Open the menu (Trading -> Portfolio).
- Create a GTT order, choose the account and symbol, and set the trigger price along with the order details (quantity, price, order type).
- Save it. The GTT now rests until the trigger price is reached.
Modify or cancel a GTT order
Your resting GTT orders are listed in the Portfolio.
- Modify — open a GTT to change its trigger price or order details, then save.
- Cancel — remove a GTT you no longer want. A GTT also goes away once it has triggered and the order is placed.

Your resting GTT orders are listed with these columns.

| Type | GTT type (single, or OCO — one-cancels-the-other). |
| Status | ACTIVE (resting) or TRIGGERED. |
| Product | Product type. |
| Valid Till | The date until which the GTT stays valid (only for brokers that support it). |
| Broker | The broker for this account. |
You can filter the list by ACTIVE, TRIGGERED or ALL.
Good to know
- GTT support is still in BETA for some brokers. If you notice any issue, please report it to us so we can look into it.
- A GTT only places an order when it triggers — keep enough margin in the account so the order can go through when that happens.
- The GTT limits (how many you can keep, how long they last) depend on your broker.

First check that your broker offers a GTT feature, as GTT works only on brokers that support it. Try placing a small sample GTT order from the Portfolio screen to confirm. Also keep enough margin in the account, since the order is placed only when the trigger is hit. If it still does not work, note the exact error message and contact support so we can investigate.
