In short
  • Know your password? Sign in, open the User menu at the top right, click Change Password. Nothing is emailed.
  • Forgotten it? Use the Forgot or Reset Password link on the login page. We email a reset code to the address on your account.
  • Either way your new password must be at least 6 characters and different from the current one.
  • Your broker password is separate. Change that with your stock broker, then save the new password in your trading account here.

Two different passwords

AutoTrader Web involves two passwords, and they are changed in two different places:

PasswordWhat it isWhere you change it
AutoTrader Web sign-in passwordThe password you type on the AutoTrader Web login page, next to your Login Id.Inside the app, from the User menu — see below.
Broker trading account passwordThe password of your account with your stock broker, saved in AutoTrader Web so it can log in for you. With your stock broker first, then saved again in Accounts → Trading Accounts.

The steps on this page are for the AutoTrader Web sign-in password.

Change your password (you know your current one)

This is the normal way. You stay signed in and nothing is emailed.

  1. Sign in to AutoTrader Web.
  2. Click your name in the top-right corner — or the round icon showing the first letter of your name — to open the User menu.
  3. Click Change Password.
  4. Type your current password.
  5. Type your new password, then type it again in the next box.
  6. Click Save.

You will see “Password changed” on the screen. You stay signed in on this device; use the new password the next time you sign in.

Your new password must be at least 6 characters and different from your current one. If you type the current password wrongly, nothing is changed and the screen tells you so.

Reset your password (you have forgotten it)

Use this when you cannot sign in at all. It proves who you are with a code sent to your email instead of your old password.

  1. Open AutoTrader Web and stay on the login page.
  2. Click the Forgot or Reset Password link, just under the password box.
  3. Type the email address you registered with, then click Load Users.
  4. Pick your login id from the list that appears, then click Reset Password.
  5. We email a reset code to that email address.
  6. On the next screen, type the reset code, then your new password twice.
  7. Click Change Password. You can now sign in with the new password.

You do not need your old password for this. You only need access to the email address saved on your account.

If the reset code does not arrive

  • Check the spam and promotions folders of your email.
  • Make sure you typed the same email address you used when you registered. The code goes only to the address saved on your account.
  • Wait a few minutes and check again before requesting a second code.
  • If it still does not arrive, message us on WhatsApp and we will check it for you.

If your email has more than one login id

One email address can be linked to more than one AutoTrader Web login id. That is why the reset screen asks you to pick an account after you click Load Users. Pick the login id you actually sign in with — the reset code changes the password of that login id only.

Changing your broker trading account password

This is a different password and a different screen.

  1. Change the password with your stock broker first, using the broker’s own website or app.
  2. In AutoTrader Web, open Accounts → Trading Accounts.
  3. Click the pencil icon next to that account’s Login Id.
  4. Type the new broker password, then click Validate and Save.

Until the new broker password is saved here, AutoTrader Web keeps trying the old one and login to that broker account will fail. See Trading platform password expired for the error you will see and how to clear it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change my AutoTrader Web password?

Sign in, click your name in the top-right corner to open the **User** menu, then click **Change Password**. Type your current password, then your new password twice, and click Save. You stay signed in and nothing is emailed.

I have forgotten my password and cannot sign in. What now?

Use the **Forgot or Reset Password** link on the login page, under the password box. Enter your email address, click **Load Users**, pick your account, and click **Reset Password**. A reset code is emailed to you. Enter that code with your new password to finish.

Why does it say my new password must be different?

Setting the same password again is refused, because it changes nothing. Choose a different password of at least 6 characters.

I did not receive the reset code email. What should I do?

Check the spam or promotions folder first, and make sure you typed the email address you registered with. The code is sent only to the email address saved on your account. If it still does not arrive after a few minutes, message us on WhatsApp and we will help.

My email shows more than one account. Which one do I pick?

One email address can have more than one AutoTrader Web login id. After clicking **Load Users**, the list shows every login id linked to that email. Pick the login id you sign in with. The reset code applies only to the account you picked.

I changed the password of my trading account at my broker. Do I need to do anything here?

Yes. Open **Accounts → Trading Accounts**, click the pencil icon next to that account's Login Id, type the new broker password, then click Validate and Save. Until you do this, login to that broker account will keep failing. See [Trading platform password expired](/knowledgebase/trading-platform-password-expired/).
